Microsoft Works not really a free-for-all after all

Microsoft’s foray into ad revenue based software seems to have been throttled back somewhat.  Earlier this week, I wrote about Microsoft’s first notable attempt to offer up productivity software for ‘free’.  Download Squad is reporting that the ad supported Works will be offered through a select number of OEM partners, and not to the general public.  I guess Microsoft is still struggling to understand the new rules of the software game.

Please submit a PowerPoint presentation along with your application

So says the Graduate School of Business at the University of Chicago. Amit Agarwal, over at Digital Inspiration, points us to this story about the ever-evolving admissions requirements at b-schools. I’m sure I’m not the only one that has suffered through inane PowerPoint presentations, so I hope this focus on presentation skills goes deeper than just the admissions process. While every b-school student won’t become David Byrne (yes, that David Byrne), there is a definite need to tame the unwieldy medium.

Pownce anyone?

A reader recently sent me an invite to pownce, and now I’ve got several invites to handout myself.  If you’re interested, leave a comment and I’ll send the invite out.
